“Guardian” proteins safeguard gene expression in plants
In multicellular organisms, the balance between gene activation and repression is crucial for development. However, some genes must remain active at all times.
In an article published in Nature Plants, the SILENT team shows how the proteins MAIL and MAIN can block the action of Polycomb repressors, thereby ensuring harmonious development.
