Historique : Joël Drevet a obtenu son doctorat en biologie cellulaire/génétique et immunologie à l'Université Claude Bernard (Lyon1, France) en 1989. De 1990 à 1993, Joël Drevet a passé quatre ans au Health Science Centre, à la Faculté de médecine de l'Université de Calgary (Alberta, Canada) en tant que chercheur postdoctoral (1990-1991) et associé de recherche (1992-1993). En septembre 1993, Joël Drevet a été engagé comme Maitre de Conférences à l'Université Blaise Pascal (Clermont-Ferrand, France) aujourd'hui Université Clermont Auvergne). En 1998, il a accédé au poste de professeur titulaire et a créé son propre groupe de recherche dans le domaine de la physiologie de la reproduction des mammifères. De 1998 jusqu'à 2023, son équipe de recherche est soutenue par le CNRS. De 2008 à 2022, l'équipe a également bénéficié du soutien de l'Institut National de la Recherche Médicale (INSERM). Depuis 2015, l’équipe est engagée dans de la valorisation clinique et vétérinaire de ses activités soutenue par l’Université Clermont Auvergne (UCA) et Clermont Auvergne Valorisation (CAI). Une structure de diagnostic et de R&D (EVALSEM) est en maturation en tant que Business Unit pilotée par la cellule de valorisation de l'UCA Clermont Auvergne Innovation (CAI). La platforms de service est rattachée à UCA-partner.
Rayonnement National/international: Joël Drevet est membre de l'Académie européenne d'andrologie (EAA), de la Société Européenne de Reproduction Humaine et d'Embryologie (ESHRE), de la Société Nord-Américaine d'études sur la reproduction (SSR) et de la Société Internationale d'Andrologie (ISA). J. Drevet est « Managing Editor » du journal BCA (Basic & Clinical Andrology), « Associate Editor » de la revue Asian Journal of Andrology et Academic Editor des revues PLoS ONE, Antioxidants and Oxidative Medicine & Cellular Longevity. En outre, Joël Drevet est actuellement membre du comité de rédaction de la revue Andrology. De 2011 à 2016, il a été « Associate Editor » de la revue Human Reproduction et membre du bureau éditorial de la revue Biology of Reproduction. A ce jour, le Professeur Drevet a un facteur H de 45 et un indice de citation > à 7000. Au cours de sa carrière et à ce jour, il a co-écrit plus de 150 publications et supervisé/co-supervisé 17 thèses de doctorat.
Recherche
Principaux intérêts de recherche : Les recherches animés par Joël Drevet se concentrent sur les étapes post-testiculaires de la maturation des spermatozoïdes pendant leur descente et leur stockage dans le tubule épididymaire. L’expertise est centrée sur les aspects du stress oxydant et son impact sur les capacités fécondantes des spermatozoïdes de mammifères, l’intégrité du noyau paternel et les effets transgénérationnels potentiels, à la fois dans la reproduction naturelle comme dans les technologies de reproduction assistée (PMA). L’homéostasie du cholestérol et le contrôle de l’immunité dans l’épididyme, tant au niveau des aspects fondamentaux qu’au niveau clinique, sont d’autres volets de la physiologie épididymaire abordés.
