The NuReP group focuses its research activities on pathologies that involve lipid-sensitive nuclear receptors as well as steroid hormonal mediators. The team's goal is to improve understanding of the mechanisms linking metabolism and endocrine responses. Our attention focuses on several nuclear receptors: LXRalpha and LXRbeta, oxysterol receptors, both involved in the homeostasis of lipid metabolism, as well as AR and ER, androgen and estrogen receptors respectively, which represent master regulators of many tissues targeted by steroids. The team mainly focuses its research activity on two organs, the prostate and the ovary. In parallel, our team is developing numerous partnerships(academic, hospital, private companies, etc.) on topics of biomedical innovation concerning the pathologies that affect these two organs.
Our scientific objectives aggregate around 5 points:
– Determine the pharmacological modulation potential of LXR in ovarian and prostate pathologies
– Understand the role of sterol metabolism in prostate cancer progression
– Explore how environmental disrupting chemical could influence the progression of prostate cancer
– Identify new selective modulators of LXRalpha and LXRbeta nuclear receptors
– Develop new non-mammalian in vivo models, in particular Drosophila melanogaster
Sequential Ras/MAPK and PI3K/AKT/mTOR pathways recruitment drives basal extrusion in the prostate-like gland of Drosophila.
